The defining feature of the Opti-myst Linear is Dimplex's patented water-vapor flame technology.

Ultrasonic technology creates an ultra-fine water mist that rises through the firebox. Advanced LED lighting illuminates the vapor, producing the illusion of naturally moving flames and smoke.
